Associate Professor Leanne Teoh is a clinician researcher and Dame Kate Campbell Fellow at the Melbourne Dental School, as well as a practising dentist and registered pharmacist. She was awarded her PhD in 2021 with her research focus being various aspects of medicine use in dentistry and dental prescribing practices, focusing on dental antibiotic stewardship. In collaboration with MIMS Australia and from her PhD research, Leanne has commercialised the first clinical decision medicines tool for dental practitioners in Australia, called MIMS Drugs4dent.

Leanne has published widely in international peer-reviewed journals, as well as one book chapter and one book, Handbook of Dental Therapeutics. She has received >$4 million in funding, and currently hold a NHMRC EL1 grant. In addition to research, she co-authored the Australian national dental guidelines, Therapeutic Guidelines Oral and Dental Version 2, and is on the editorial boards for the journals BMC Oral Health and the International Dental Journal. She is part of the Preventing AMR and Infections Task Team with the World Dental Federation.

Leanne is a passionate science communicator, and as an invited speaker, she has presented her research both locally and internationally in various forums, including the Therapeutic Goods Administration, FDI World Dental Federation and International Association for Dental Research. She has been a guest on several podcasts, and was an educator in the massive online open course regarding tackling antibiotic use in dental practice, with the FDI World Dental Federation and British Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy.

Leanne has received several awards and scholarships, including the Rowden White Scholarship, International Association for Dental Research ANZ Community and Preventive Dentistry award in 2024, and the Ernest Joske Award in 2020 at Melbourne Dental School for research impact and publications. She was awarded a Fellow of the International College of Dentists and Pierre Fauchard Academy for her contributions to dentistry.
